In the mid 90's, rising star director Richard Stanley, having just come off work from the hit Sci-Fi film Hardware, was employed by New Line Cinema to remake The Island of Dr. Moreau off the coast of far north Queensland. What happened next lives on in film infamy. Battered by a virtually insane Marlon Brando, ignored by an egomanical Val Kilmer, abandoned by both his producers and his crew, weeks behind schedule and millions over budget, Stanley had a complete mental breakdown before being fired and left to wander the Australian outback in search of sanity and a way back home. Lost Souls gives a riveting warts-and-all account of one of the strangest and (for the time) most expensive film shoots of all time.
